Our Facilities

Martha's Home 1

Through the generous gift of the David and Mary Mullin family, Martha’s Home moved into its permanent location at 1204 SW 18th in June, 1989.

This large, five bedroom residence is the home of up to ten women, who are allowed to live at Martha’s Home for 90 days while working or attending school.

The experienced and caring staff provides individual case management, connecting each woman with community resources to assist her in successful transition to permanent residency.

Martha's Home 2

In 1992, a second home, located next door to Martha’s Home 1, was opened for women who have dependent children living with them.  Martha’s Home 2 has space for a total of 16 people, with room for four women and their children. Because these children may have fallen behind in their school work, Amarillo ISD provides a weekly tutor.

Another special program is the “Birthday in a Bag.”  Community volunteers provide mothers with all the fixings for a birthday party for her child, including a cake mix with icing and decorations, candles, balloons and favors, and a special gift for the birthday child.

The family atmosphere offers support and stability that many homeless mothers have lacked as children, thus ending the cycle of homelessness.

Martha's Home 3

Martha’s Home 3 was purchased through a grant from the Mary E. Bivins Foundation, and after renovation it was opened in May, 2007.

This house is used as a transition home for an additional 3 month stay for women who have successfully completed their 90 day program at Martha’s Home.

Either three single women or three mothers with up to seven children may live in this residence.  Because Martha’s Home 3 is located away from the immediate supervision of staff, only those women who have demonstrated a high level of responsibility are allowed to live there.
