Martha's Heart Newsletter- Summer 2023

PLACE TO CALL HOME Martha's Home has served a a safe place for homeless women and mothers with children, for 35 years! Our women and children face many challenges and because of your generosity, Martha’s Home provides for our residents' present needs and leads them to their future success.

“Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” (James 1:27 CSB) I have often thought the “orphans and widows” in modern times are homeless women and mothers with children, and I am blessed to be a part of a community that lives out James 1:27 every day by giving of your time, talent, and treasure to Martha’s Home. Your prayers, donations and financial contributions are impacting lives and breaking the cycle of homelessness.

Thank you for giving to Martha’s Home. Your generosity will continue to help women and their children find stability and a path towards a brighter future within the comforting walls of Martha's Home. We are forever grateful for your support.

Connie Garcia Executive Director

My name is Branden and I will be a sophomore this fall at Caprock High School. My grandma is raising my younger brother, my little cousin and me. We became homeless May 26, 2022 and Jesus led us to Martha's Home that same day. We were blessed with a roof over our heads, food on our table, clothes, shoes, and anything we could possibly need. But more importantly, we were blessed with some of the most caring, loving, compassionate, empathetic people we had ever met and made lifelong friends as well.

My grandma has been disabled since 2012 after being a nurse for over 30 years. Because of this we live on a limited income. I am in the US Marine Corps JROTC program at Caprock. My drill meets and drill rifles are not cheap. My grandma knows how much this program means to me, but I was willing to give it up to save her some money.

Ms. Connie and her staff know how much I want to be a US Marine

after graduation. I was accepted in to the Present Needs Future Success program at Martha's Home. If I need funding for drill meets, funding for camps I attend, a new drill rifle when I wear one out, Martha's Home makes it possible. They go above and beyond to meet our "present needs". They believe in me and want nothing more than to see my "future success".

My grandma said Martha's Home saved our lives and my grandma is rarely wrong. I will never be able to thank them enough for everything they have done and continue to do for our family. God bless Martha's Home and the caring staff who are helping to make our lives so much better. I will make them proud.
